The Real World Denver - Meet Davis

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Debuting last week on MTV, the 18th season (yes, that is not a typo) of The Real World features the usual blend of hot college age guys and gals all living together under roof to find out what happens when they stop being polite, and start getting real. And as has become a mainstay on pretty much every season, there is a gay housemate. This season, we will be following the adventures of Davis, a 23 year old from Marietta, Georgia.

The Advocate Magazine had the pleasure of sitting down with him to chat about his life, being gay, coming out and more. It is a very interesting read. Here are a few of the highlights. For the entire interview, just go HERE.

Having seen previous seasons of The Real World, which usually feature one gay or lesbian cast member, did you feel like you were "the gay one"? Did that matter to you?

I feel like they always have...not always, but a lot of times there's a gay character. And I had to do a lot of talking to myself, like, Am I only cast for this show because I'm gay? But there are tons of gay people who try out every season for this show, so obviously there must be something different about me from the rest of them. In life, I'm a real straight-acting kind of gay guy. I'm in a fraternity, I've barely been to any gay bars. I hardly even went when I was in Denver. Most of my friends, if not all of them, are straight. I have a few gay friends. And so, for me, I thought maybe I was being cast for being more like the "straight gay guy." They hadn't really cast a ton of those before. But I didn't want to have to come in and, like, come out immediately to everyone. 'Cause I felt like the guys would immediately label me as "the gay character." And I just came out a year ago. So it was kinda tough, coming in knowing that people are gonna expect someone to be gay, and fingers might be pointed at me, and what are they gonna think? And are they gonna still be my friends? That sort of stuff was going through my head.

So you were not out in the house immediately upon arriving there.

No. I mean, I didn't come in and be like, "I'm gay!" It took some time. Unfortunately, because this is a show that usually has a gay character, people were asking, "Is there somebody gay?" And I wasn't gonna lie and be like, "Oh, I¹m not," and then tell everyone a month later. So if I was ever confronted, I did [come out], but it wasn't all, like, [from] day one.

What was the response from the other housemates?

The girls had no issues. In fact, one of them was craving a gay character. Some of the guys had issues with it, homophobic issues. I mean, that¹s probably why they were chosen. I'm from a really strong Christian family, so we had a lot of talks about, like, "Is this a choice?" And, what are my views about, you know, if you condemn drinking in the Bible, how is that any different from condemning being gay in the Bible, when my Christian friends are drinking, you know? So it was things like that. One of my favorite persons in the house is one of the guys, and we have become really good friends because of it. So I don't feel like it was a typical "gay guy that only is friends with girls" scenario.

What do you think will be the general reaction of your community when you go back to Marietta?

I don't know. I have gotten to the point in my life where I just want to be happy. I want to be in a relationship with a guy because that makes me happy, and I want to just be proud of who I am and not ashamed of anything anymore. I don't really care what my friends from my school who may not be my friends anymore think.

What can you tell us about your relationship?

We've been dating now for nine months. We actually went to high school together. We're from neighborhoods just down the street from each other. He's really into baseball, he's in a fraternity. He's sort of a guy's guy. I knew him in high school but not knowing he was gay, and I think the same thing went for him with me. So we were hanging out over Christmas break, someone mentioned to him that I was gay and thought we should hang out. I guess he'd come out to one friend, and that friend set us up. And then, through the process, he's actually gotten more confident and proud of who he is, and he started to come out to lots of people, and this show will be a similar experience for him, in that a lot of his friends from college and high school don't know that he's gay. But he made an appearance [on the show], so it'll be an experience for him. We'll be going through it together.

If you haven't checked out the first episode, it airs again several more times this week, so don't miss it. And be sure to catch the rest of The Real World Denver airing at 10:00PM Wednesday's on MTV with repeats about 200 times during the week!

An Interview With Jake Cruise

Sorry, there will not be another porn review this Friday. But I think what will replace it is even better.

In my continuing quest to bring you exclusive interviews with some of the best in the gay porn industry, I am pleased to share my recent interview with Jake Cruise. While this was not conducted face to face, I have had the pleasure of meeting Jake in person last year and I can tell you he is charming, funny, intelligent, and very sexy man.

So let's get to know a bit more about the one and only Jake Cruise.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Goldie: Tell me about your background. What did you do before working in the porn industry?

Jake Cruise: I was a senior internet specialist at a major corporation.

Goldie: How did you make the transition into the adult market? What attracted you to this job?

Jake: I quit my corporate job to strike out on my own. But right after I quit the dot bust happened. My shrink suggested I make a porn site since I knew how to build web sites. The rest is history.

Goldie: Its one thing to work behind the scenes, but to appear on camera like you do in your videos is quite different. Have you always wanted to be a porn star?

Jake: When I was in my 20's I absolutely wanted to be a porn star. But I didn't have the guts. I got in front of the camera to service the guys. Then members started asking to see more of me. I was puzzled, but I obliged. I didn't realize there was a market for daddies out there.

Goldie: What has been your most memorable or unusual experience working in the porn industry? And was it caught on camera?

Jake: Every day is unusual in my profession. The most memorable would have to be a couple of years ago at the Men Magazine 20th anniversary party when Chi Chi LaRue called me by name. She knew who I was and that blew me away!

Goldie: How is the content you produce different from what else is on the market?

Jake: I try to keep it fun. I think sex should be fun, and funny, and messy. If someone falls off the bed, keep on filming! Also, I produce straight porn for gay men, which is a bit weird, too.

Goldie: Do you have a favorite movie you?ve shot and if so what makes it so special?

Jake: Definitely Cruise Collection 22: Tommy and Kyle wrestle. That wrestling scene was so much fun and very sexy. My two hottest studs (at the time) wrasslin' around, getting each other all oily, and then sucking and jacking each other off. Man was it fun. And I got to plant a big old dildo on top of Kyle's ass (on top, not in).

To enjoy Cruise Collection 22: Tommy and Kyle for yourself, simply click on the box art below.

Goldie: Are you single or have you found your Mr. Right?

Jake: I am definitely single at work, but I do have an s.o.

Goldie: What types of guys do find sexy?

Jake: I like guys of all ages who are fit and are great kissers.

Goldie: Boxers, briefs, boxer/briefs, or none of the above?

Jake: Tightie whities, tight white briefs, preferably wet with a big hard on inside, the head of the cock just peeking out of the elastic waistband.

Goldie: What do you have planned for the future?

Jake: Sex, lots and lots of sex.

Goldie: Well, who can argue with that! Thanks for taking the time to answer everything. Can't wait to see what you are up to next!

To see a small sample of the movies Jake Cruise offers, come to my Goldie's Gay Galaxy Pay Per View Theater and take a look here. They are waiting for you right now, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for just pennies per minute to watch on your PC. So please, check them out, you won't be sorry!

An Interview With Fred Bercovitz From Video 10

For your Labor Day Weekend enjoyment, I am going to take a break from my weekly Friday Gay Porn Review to provide you another interview with a giant in the porn industry. I had the recent pleasure of interviewing Fred Bercovitz, the Sales Manager from Video 10 Productions since 1991. So kick of your heels, and spend a few minutes learning about Fred and his journey though the behind the scenes world of gay porn!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Goldie: Tell me about your background. What did you do before coming to Video 10?

Fred Bercovitz: Prior to taking this job, I was a commissioned salesman for Catalina Video, and just before that I managed the Malibu Sales mail order division of the Advocate magazine. But I also brought some organizational skills to the job because of my work in the Savings and Loan industry during the 70's up until 1985.

I quit my career in banking when I was offered the job of office manager for a phone sex company. That opportunity came up when my hobby of writing dirty poetry, and getting some of it published, lead me to answer an ad for a "seminar" on how to talk dirty on the telephone. Phone sex was a new industry around then, and I wanted to gain some insight into it to help me write some poetry or short stories about it. But the seminar was really a front to attract potential phone "actors". When I befriended the owners of the company, I accepted their offer to become their office manager and left banking for good.

I can't say why I left the job security of a mainstream industry like banking for the shadier adult industry of phone sex, but I just took a leap of faith that it was something that I would enjoy and excel at. After that, I also worked for the Advocate in their mail order division, which also lead to a stint writing under the name Hands Solo as the Advocate Men gay video reviewer, where I invented the teaspoon system of reviews (don't ask!). That bit of corporate confidence in my writing skills kept me attempting to get published in all types of places.

Eventually, the desktop publishing revolution happened towards the end of the 80's and the beginning of the 90's, and something called "zines" were getting published by writers just like me. I had this idea to write about how much fun I was having when I did drag for Halloween year after year. That idea, with the help at first of my friends at the Advocate, became 10 issues of my underground zine, Dragazine, the Magazine for Halloweeners and Inbetweeners, that I published under the name Lois Commondenominator. Little did I know that doing drag and writing about it would become a fantastic hobby that would teach me all about graphic design, photography, printing, journalism and editing. All of these things have contributed to my success here at Video 10.

Goldie: What is your current role within Video 10 and what do you attribute your long lasting success to?

Fred: Being the Sales Manager for Video 10 Distributors since 1991 has been a dream job come true! There are so many reasons why I have found a home here, why I have lasted this long, why I feel the fit has been so good between the company and my talents and disposition.

When I was first hired, Video 10 had just been entrapped into shipping adult materials to the central district of Pennsylvania, and it was possible that the company wouldn't survive very long. But I took the job because I've always been an optimist, and my optimism paid off. The position of Sales Manager had come up when the previous manager went on to run his own mail order company. I don't remember if I had to compete for the position at that time, but it helped that I had some previous adult business experience.

Goldie: What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience working in the porn industry?

Fred: I am currently the Sales Manager for Video 10, but over the years, I have also produced three of my own titles. The fist two received nominations for awards from the Adult Video News, but in particular, I'm very proud to have been nominated twice in the category of Best Sex Comedy. Please check out my website for my second movie at A Rim With A View. I like to infuse humor into the movies that I create.

My third project has been the most challenging and rewarding because not only did I do all of the editing, I also produced the six music tracks heard throughout the movie. It helped that I was classically trained on the piano as a young child for this achievement, but I also received an "A" in music composition from a class I took at UCLA during my college years. Please check out my g-rated music videos based on my "Music To Bone By" by going here.

Here is a sample of Fred's music videos to enjoy. The rest can be accessed at the above link.

Goldie: How is the content from Video 10 unique from what else is on the market?

Fred: Video 10's content is similar in many ways to the quality of content that other companies offer, except we offer a wide variety of titles from various producers that are exclusive to Video 10. We have represented big companies and little companies, from Falcon and Huge to Jeff Stryker.

As the market changed over the years, or as producers bolted for greener pastures, we had to turn on a dime ourselves to keep the doors open. I think we're still in business because we're now what I would call a "boutique" distributor. We take on productions from producers who might have needed some help to bring their productions to market, or who trust us because of our reputation for being honest.

Goldie: Do you have a favorite Video 10 movie and if so what makes it so special?

Fred: That's a hard question, because I won't take on movies that I don't like. I'm able to see something good in every one of our movies. That might be why we have an audience for our titles. They appeal to a wide audience, which is the objective of a commercial appeal.

But competition is fierce right now, and I think it's a maturing industry with a flooded market, so the profits we've seen from years past aren't as easy to make as they used to be. Video 10's success now is not so much that we're the most profitable or the most famous company, but that we're able to keep in business with so much competition around from new formats and changing tastes. I'm very proud to work at Video 10, and I think my customers continue to buy from me not only because they can make money from the movies we sell, but because they respond to my personality and friendliness.

Goldie: Are you single or taken?

Fred: Ahh, the juicy questions. Well, my personal life has recently had quite an upturn. I am currently taken and have been in a monogamous relationship for over 2 years now.

Goldie: What types of guys do find sexy?

Fred: I like guys who have a good sense of humor. I've always enjoyed looking at handsome guys and fantasizing about sex with them, but I realized when a guy told me that I was "too old" at 18 years of age(!) that I realized that looks are transitory. I've had more than my share of sex with many types of men, but since I finally settled down after enjoying my extended adolescence, I can see that a successful one-on-one relationship like we have includes the best sex I've ever had with anyone in my life!

Goldie: Boxers, briefs, boxer/briefs, or none of the above?

Fred: I'm a boxers guy now. I used to be a low-rise briefs, guy, but since I've been working out 5 times a week for the last few years, my muscular thighs just won't fit into tighty whities anymore. But I should also mention that I must have a jock straps fetish (among others) as I seem to have featured them in my movies. I've made up a few jock strap tricks that have been witnessed by those that have seen the Freddie Show, a very local and exclusive production with extremely limited seating, but which I will show off in a future worldwide release.

Goldie: What do you have planned for the future? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Fred: For the near future, I'm hoping to produce more movies and write more music for them. I love the streaming checks that come to my post office box like manna from heaven! That's my retirement plan! For the far future, I'm thinking about chucking it all and buying something in the desert where I will become the produce manager for the Cathedral City Ralphs while on Thursday evenings sell macrame belts and milk carton candles at the weekly street fair.

Goldie: Thank you so much for taking the time to answer everything with such great detail. You are very open and this was a true pleasure! Best wishes for continued success at Video 10.

An Interview with Dr. Dick

Today I am going to take a break from my normal Friday Gay Porn Review to provide you with something even better. I had the recent pleasure of interviewing Dr. Dick, aka Dr. Richard Wagner of Daddy Oohhh Productions. So sit back with a cup of coffee in one hand and your cock in the other and learn more about this fascinating man, his most unbelievable past, and his current role in the gay adult scene.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Goldie: Tell me about your background. What were you doing before porn?

Dr. Dick: I came to this work in a most unorthodox fashion. It is certainly not something I ever aspired to do. I was a Catholic priest for 20 years. (I am the only Catholic priest in the world with a doctorate in Clinical Sexology.) I completed my post-graduate work with the publication of my doctoral thesis concerning the sexual attitudes and behaviors of gay Catholic priests in the active ministry in 1981. This was unprecedented research back then (and even now, for that matter). There was a firestorm of international publicity. I was son to be known as "The Gay Priest". Like if I was the only one. Needless to say, this notoriety (some say infamy) effectively ended my priesthood. I fought the Vatican for the next 15 years, from 1981-1996, in an attempt to salvage my ministry, but the deed was done.

My career as a therapist in San Francisco coincided with the advent of HIV/AIDS (1981). Not surprisingly, my practice evolved into working primarily with sick and dying people. In the mid-90's I founded a nonprofit organization, PARADIGM, Enhancing Life Near Death. It was an outreach for terminally ill, chronically ill, elder and dying people. This was brilliant cutting-edge work. Alas, I couldn't find the funding to continue. This precipitated a rather sudden move to Seattle in 1999.

G: How did you make the transition into the adult market? What attracted you to this job?

DD: I continued to work with sick and dying people here, in Seattle. I started to develop programming for women newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer and men with prostate cancer. I wanted to create videos for people experiencing life threatening and/or disfiguring illnesses to help them deal with reintegrating sex and intimacy post diagnosis. I soon realized that I would need to fund this project on my own. No mainline foundation would touch the issue of sex. Faced with how I might do that, friends prevailed on me to start by making porn. Thus Daddy Oohhh! Productions was born.

What attracted me? The lure of loads of money to fund my great passion attracted me. Unfortunately, the load of money has yet to materialize. Now that I'm actually doing porn, my interest is to create projects that are different in style and tone from what currently rules the marketplace.

G: What is your role within Daddy Oohhh! Productions?

DD: President/CEO: that and a dollar gets me a ride on the bus. ;-)

G: What has been your most memorable experience working in the porn industry?

DD: I've met and worked with some marvelously creative people, both in front of and behind the camera. These extraordinary people have helped me make my mark. Without them, there would be no Daddy Oohhh.

G: What makes the content from Daddy Oohhh! Productions unique?

DD: Are you familiar with those innocent, unassuming, joyful, playful, classic films of the early days of porn? The days when the sex was earnest and wild and hot and yet oh so sweet. When the production took a back seat to honest to goodness, unabashed passion. The time before all the polish and gloss; before the cult of hyper-masculinity. Before all the posturing and self-absorption. Before the body stereotyping and humorless, deadpan sex. The days before the cookie cutter, assembly line productions that currently rule the marketplace. I remember those days. I was there! I'm delighted to present my homage to that genuine, albeit brief, time when we celebrated our sexuality with wild abandon and carried on without pretense.

Daddy Oohhh! Productions labors to capture some of the spirit and pathos of that golden era. If you sense that something has gone missing from adult entertainment lately - the romance, allure and seduction - why not check out our stuff. It might just help restore your faith in good old-fashioned smut.

G: Do you have a favorite movie you've shot and if so what makes it so special?

DD: Each of out movies has a certain charm. Of course, I'd say that, they're mine!

No, really, some titles have better production values then others. Some have better performances than others. That being said, if I were to direct someone who wanted to get an idea of the Daddy Oohhh! signature, I'd suggest they check out our most recent title: After Hours and an older title, Willie Gets A Brand New Thing.

**To check out either movie, click the box cover below**

G: Are you in a relationship or still looking for Mr. (or Mrs.) Right?

DD: Nope! Single as all-get-out! Isn't that pathetic? All this fine stuff goin' to waste. ;-)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

G: What types of guys do find sexy?

DD: I'm into trim and fit men. Those who enjoy lots of sensual body contact, massage, wrestling, etc. He's gotta love kissing. I like my sex to be mutual and reciprocal.

G: Boxers, briefs, or boxer/briefs? Or none of the above?

DD: Boxer-briefs

G: What do you have planned for the future?

DD: I hope to make it to dinnertime before I collapse from exhaustion. ;-)

G: Thank you for your time, it was great getting to know you better!

Be sure to check out the latest news and find out more about the full line of Daddy Oohhh videos on their official website. To watch them right now, come over to my Pay Per View Porn theater!
