'NSYNC Grows Up and Comes Out!

Were you a fan of the boy band 'NSYNC? Go ahead, you can admit you liked them at least a little. They were undeniably popular in the late 90s and early 2000s and still have the record for the fastest selling album ever with No Strings Attached selling 2.4 million copies the week of March 21, 2000. I actually enjoyed them so much I attended two of their concerts, both which were very entertaining.

Of the five members of the boy band, I've always been obsessed with two of the members. Of course I'm in love with lead singer Justin Timberlake, who is the only one that has managed a successful music career since 'NSYNC broke up. But I've always had a place in my heart for the lesser seen blonde cutie Lance Bass. I even saw his movie On The Line in theaters... So yes, I was that one person who bought a ticket to see that movie!

But the reason I am bringing up Lance Bass is that the news just broke today... that after months and even years of speculation and rumors... LANCE BASS IS GAY! I always had a strong suspicion for some reason, and I'm glad to see my gaydar didn't fail me again!

Here are excerpts from the article. The full story can be found here on People.com.

Lance Bass, the former 'N Sync heartthrob, reveals that he is gay, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

"I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," says Bass, referring to bandmates Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake.

"I didn't know: Could that be the end of 'N Sync? So I had that weight on me of like, "Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it's bad.' So I just never did," he says speaking about his sexual orientation for the first time with PEOPLE.

Now, after years of keeping his personal life private, the Mississippi-bred, Southern Baptist-reared Bass, 27, is publicly revealing what he first shared with his friends, then his shocked family.

Having pursued acting, producing and -- most memorably -- space flight after 'N Sync went on hiatus in 2002, Bass now is looking ahead to new beginnings. He is in a "very stable" relationship with model-actor-Amazing Race winner Reichen Lehmkuhl, 32, and is developing an Odd Couple-inspired sitcom pilot with Fatone in which his character will be gay.

"The thing is, I'm not ashamed -- that's the one thing I want to say," he explains of his decision to come out. "I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy." As for why he's talking about this now Bass says, "The main reason I wanted to speak my mind was that (the rumors) really were starting to affect my daily life. Now it feels like it's on my terms. I'm at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God so there's really nothing else that I worry about."

To read the full story, look for the issue to hit newsstands starting Friday July 28th. And the clues were always there, just go back up and look at the cover to the No Strings Attached album. Look who is the only member who has a limp wrist! Oh Lance, you were trying to tell us, we just didn't want to see the hints!

In addition to Lance's big news, Justin is making headlines too. Not for coming out (damn!) but because he is getting ready to release his second solo album. His first, Justified, was a huge hit launching several popular singles including Like I Love You, Cry Me A River, Rock Your Body, and Senorita. And of course who can forget his memorable Super Bowl half time show wardrobe malfunction with Janet Jackson!

But Justin Timberlake is back in the recording studio with a new album due out soon. He has recently released the first single called "Sexyback". Its a different sound for Justin, but it kinda grows on you. If you haven't heard the song yet, or seen the video that goes with it, now you can enjoy it right here on Goldie's Gay Galaxy!

Finally, I leave you with this cute image taken early in the guys career. I sure would have loved to been at that slumber party!
